Description

The topic I chose to teach was "Stress Management." My presentation was based on managing stress because it is a natural thing that almost everyone experiences due to school, family, or any other factor. Research was done on ways that students cope with stress and how to manage a healthier lifestyle. A quote from an article that I found interesting was, "Steiner said these students performed, on average, four points higher on their final exams than those who did not sleep at least eight hours per night." Many first-year students develop a pattern of putting their problems on the back burner and letting nature take its course. This isn't how students should live their lives because it's not healthy to have such a large buildup. At the moment, not putting immediate tension on smaller problems may seem fine, but eventually, they will all catch up to you and ultimately cause more stress than it would have in the first place. The goal of my lesson was to deter students from putting too much stress on themselves and teach them that doing things that make you happy and laugh is just as important as getting an A on an exam.
