Description
My presentation, “Clubs and Organizations at SUNY Cortland,” aimed to introduce students to the diverse range of clubs and organizations available on campus. The presentation was designed to provide in-depth information and resources to help students navigate and explore opportunities for involvement. Many incoming students feel shy or hesitant to engage socially, I wanted my presentation to help build their confidence by highlighting how participation in clubs and organizations can enrich their college experience. Clubs, particularly sports clubs, “Provide an environment for students to release stress, improve physical fitness, and associate with friends,” (Chang, 2020). Not only can being social help mental health but also physical health, “It has been suggested that physical health is partly dependent upon related social factors” (Anderson, 2018). By fostering connections and friendships, students develop a supportive network that helps reduce academic stress and enhances their sense of belonging within the SUNY Cortland community.
