Description
The topic I chose to teach was drugs and alcohol, but more specifically being safe and being smart when encountering them. Substances can be dangerous especially when used irresponsibly, I especially wanted to discuss the dangerous of fentanyl in my lesson because it is one of the most addictive and lethal drugs and according to the CDC and is becoming more common (CDC). In my lesson I mentioned this along with other information and gave them the proper resources to handle a situation that may have escalated or became unsafe from alcohol or drugs. Studies from Harvard medical school show that college aged persons have the highest prevalence of prescription drug misuse than any other age group (Bukstein). I felt this was relevant information for them to know. Instead of a traditional lesson about drugs and alcohol, I wanted to make sure they were informed and let them know that the classroom is a safe environment to ask whatever they wanted to without consequences.
