Description
I chose to teach on the topic of note taking in college. This topic was important and for me, personally meaningful because they reflect challenges I faced during my freshman year in college. When I came to college, I thought the way I took notes and the study techniques I used in high school will be just as useful in college as they were in high school. After all, I was a very good student in high school so why wouldn't they work. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I quickly learned that I needed to completely change my approach to how I take notes and how I study in order to succeed in college. I wasn't used to taking notes on fast paced lectures, didn't know what was important to actually takes notes on and how to use my notes to properly study. My ADHD was no help in this manner and made things very difficult because I was someone that needed a routine even when it comes to note taking and studying. This was a very overwhelming change because I didn’t know where to start so through my lesson, I hope to help my students who might be going through the same struggles in this area and making the transition a little easier.
