Description
The topic I chose to teach was "Getting Involved." My Presentation was based on this because of the impact getting involved on campus had on me. There are many different reasons why this topic shapes a students college experience. For example, getting involved overall makes you more well rounded, gives you more opportunities and experiences, and helps you find your place of belonging in a new environment. A research study conducted in the Center for the Study of Student Life at The Ohio State University has shown "college student involvement is positively related to academic performance, cognitive development, well-being, leadership, and multicultural awareness" (Center for the Study of Student Life, The Ohio State University, 2020). Students who are involved have more benefits because they are more inclined to be outgoing because they have a bigger group of people. Throughout the Ohio State study "employers also rated highly-involved students as significantly more career ready than uninvolved or minimally involved students" (2020).
