Abstract
Over ten years have passed since Jon Krakauer first released Into the Wild into print. The book, a National bestseller, is based on a true story and essentially begins where it ends. In the opening paragraph, Krakauer presents the reader with the mysterious and untimely death of 24- year old Chris McCandless in 1992. The young man, who was from a financially stable family, withdrew from his family and greater society, hitchhiked to Alaska, walked alone into the wilderness, and was found dead four months later in an abandoned bus in the Alaskan "bush".
