Taproot: A Journal of Outdoor Education

Abstract

For history to be truly understood more than reporting facts about past events must occur. The significance of events to people must also be described. Hence, our lead story "Early Beginnings in Outdoor Education" by Julie Carlson provides a good summary of outdoor education history. Her scholarly approach outlines the progress of the movement from 1930 to the present. Carlson's careful documentation furnishes good suggestions for those who would read more deeply.
