Abstract
Environmental education is in an awkward position. Nationwide polls tell us that 96% of parents support teaching environmental education in the schools.1 When teachers are asked if environmental education is important, an overwhelming majority (97.9%) agrees. Yet few teachers consistently include environmental education in their curriculum. 2 In the 30 years since environmental education took wing, many teachers have found themselves caught between believing in the importance of environmental education and feeling pressed to find the time to "fit" it in.
